This was the first championship game broadcast on a national radio network, and the message went out loud and clear that the Bears' T-formation was superior to the established Single Wing. After 12:40 of the game, the Bears led 21-0 on three rushing touchdowns, Bill Osmanski rushing in from 68 yards out on the second play of the game. Quarterback Sid Luckman threw for another in the second quarter, and with the Bears in command 28-0 at the half, sat down for the rest of the day.
Three different quarterbacks led the Bears on touchdown drives in the second half, while three second-half interceptions were also returned into the Redskins' endzone, making a total of 11 touchdowns by ten Bears on the day. The closest the Redskins came to a score was Sammy Baugh overthrowing the end zone at one point in the first quarter. The Bears outrushed the Redskins 381 yards to 5, and with eight interceptions on defense, had accomplished a complete victory in every aspect of the game.
